Letter from the Editor

Dear Friends,

You may have noticed that we took a brief hiatus from publishing this newsletter. The reason? SommSelect has been in transition. In July, a dispute among the company’s shareholders necessitated a filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This wasn’t a referendum on SommSelect’s financial health, and we are operating as usual, but if you’d like more detail on the situation, we’ve got it for you here.

I’ve been Editorial Director here for more than five years, and many other key team members—like Mark Osburn, the Daily Offers Sommelier, and Connor Howard, Head of Private Client Services—have been here nearly as long. We’re continuing to do what we do: Not merely source wines that over-deliver for their price, but tell the stories of those wines in a way that is authoritative, entertaining, and authentic. Call me immodest, but I think the way we present our wines is best-in-class. Our monthly clubs, as has been confirmed repeatedly by the press, are best-in-class, too. Our customer service is second to none.

So, if you’re reading this, tell a friend about us! Moving forward, my main goal is to expand SommSelect’s contributor network—to have a wider variety of sommelier voices on the platform, across all our different channels. We’ve already got some great minds on board, in fact, so stay tuned: The best for SommSelect is yet to come!
